WHAT IS CANDIDA OVERGROWTH?

Candida is a common yeast or fungus that lives naturally in our gut, most people would connect it to thrush, this is only one type of Candida symptom and just because you have never had thrush does not mean you cannot have Candida Overgrowth. Candida works in the gut breaking down sugars, it feeds mostly on sucrose, cane sugar which is found in most refined foods which make up a large part of the western diet, this is why it gets out of control and spreads through the body. Once it has spread a specific control plan is needed to treat it.

CANDIDA OVERGROWTH AND HOW IT AFFECTS OSTEOARTHRITIS AND GOUT

THE CANDIDA CONNECTION TO OSTEOARTHRITIS AND GOUT

Osteoarthritis

People who consume a diet full of fresh whole-foods free of pesticides, cane sugar and other contaminants DO NOT GET ARTHRITIS AS MUCH WHY?

Diets predominant in sucrose (cane sugar), yeast products and refined processed foods may lead to candida overgrowth, dysbiosis and leaky gut syndrome which can affect all parts of the body.

'Junk in the joints'. Leaky gut syndrome is a condition where the intestinal membranes may become permeable to undigested food proteins passing from the digestive tract into the bloodstream, thickening up the blood (a condition known as 'Rouleau').

The body attempts to deposit the junk, sometimes into the joint area, provoking an immune system reaction and may lead to joint problems.

Excess acid is also a common by-product of western diets, which may inhibit the formation of new cartilage.

In females, increased incidences of osteoarthritis may coincide with estrogen dominance and hypothyroidism (under active thyroid) Candida overgrowth can be linked to these types of hormonal imbalance.

Usually, arthritis sufferers are treated with aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) these may actually inhibit cartilage synthesis and promote further cartilage disintegration and may also lead to dysbiosis and leaky gut syndrome.

The common theme with the relationship to candida and disease is the vicious circle that may develop:

CANDIDA OVERGROWTH > LEAKY GUT > DISEASE DEVELOPS > MEDICATION > CANDIDA THRIVES > DISEASE MAY GET WORSE.

In practice anyone who presents with any arthritic symptoms and shows any other signs of candida overgrowth would have to have candida controlled if good results were expected, as the fungus is put back in its place and the gut is repaired long term heath results may finally be achieved.

 Gout

Gout is caused by an overabundance of uric acid crystallizing in the joints, allowing the jagged edges to produce pain and inflammation, excessive consumption of proteins and alcohol is considered to be the main source of Uric acid as it is a by-product of protein metabolism in the liver but there may be other sources .

Candida fungus consumed directly  in foods and fermented alcohol and candida overgrowth may lead to the manufacture uric acid in the bodies of some people so if gout treatments can lead to further candida overgrowth its control and the control of uric acid levels may go hand in hand .

Remember Alternative  Medicine can work in with Western Treatment

GENERAL INFORMATION

Arthritis

There are many different forms of arthritis, each of which has a different cause. The most common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis (also known as degenerative joint disease) occurs following trauma to the joint, following an infection of the joint or simply as a result of aging. Furthermore, there is emerging evidence that abnormal anatomy may contribute to early development of osteoarthritis. Other forms of arthritis are rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, which are autoimmune diseases in which the body is attacking itself. Septic arthritis is caused by joint infection. Gouty arthritis is caused by deposition of uric acid crystals in the joint that results in subsequent inflammation. Additionally, there is a less common form of gout that is caused by the formation of rhomboidal shaped crystals of calcium pyrophosphate. This form of gout is known as pseudo gout

Osteoarthritis (OA, also known as degenerative arthritis, degenerative joint disease, or in more colloquial terms "wear and tear"), is a condition in which low-grade inflammation results in pain in the joints, caused by wearing of the cartilage that covers and acts as a cushion inside joints. As the bone surfaces become less well protected by cartilage, the patient experiences pain upon weight bearing, including walking and standing. Due to decreased movement because of the pain, regional muscles may atrophy, and ligaments may become more lax.
